You can count on us

As a member of the Darby family's fourth generation, I came into this business having a pretty clear understanding of what the funeral industry was all about. One thing I did not realize was how great of a reputation our company has on a national level. Growing up, I knew my family operated a fairly successful business by what I had heard locally, but until I joined the Trigard team, I did not realize how lucky I am to be born into such a hard- working family.

I have met quite a few of our customers through Trigard and national conventions; and I can't wait to begin networking with those of you who I have not yet met.

Our industry is changing right in front of our eyes and I know that my generation, not only within the Darby family but nationally, has to step up to the plate. We have to determine how we all can continue to grow through these changes. And, I can guarantee you that we, all of my family and the Trigard staff, will continue to bring you only the best and continue to serve families with the highest level of care possible.

The importance of setting goals

Jason Murphy,
Sunset Funeral Home,
Directory of Family Services
Whether you're a vault dealer, funeral home or cemetery, setting goals is an all too familiar task. How many of our goals are attainable and met at the end of the year? We usually set them too high, which makes them impossible to reach.

Are you ever curious what the "other guys" are doing? With my sales department, we live by three simple rules:
  1. Set your goals within arm's-reach - Whether it's customer service, product quality or sales, when a goal is set too high, staff members can become discouraged; and when it is set too low, they can become lazy. Making a realistic goal is important to creating an energetic and motivated staff.
  2. Narrow your goals to a specific product or service - By focusing each team member, you create a clearer goal and can track their results more easily. Plus, this allows the staff member to have a better understanding of their job requirements.
  3. Incentivize your staff throughout the year - An end of year bonus is the typical route, but there is great value in monthly and quarterly incentives as well. This keeps your staff hungry and working hard.
Keep in mind that a motivated staff is a successful staff. Setting achievable goals can help fuel the fire and make for a prosperous and successful year. For tips on setting goals, email me at jasonm@sunsetfuneralhome.com.

What do the numbers say?

Beth VadaBonCoeur,
Accountant
As the accountant at Trigard, I am constantly working with numbers. Most people don't realize how much information can be learned by reviewing a company's financial information.

Have you ever wondered what your most popular and least popular purchases have been? We can tell you how many brown liners you have purchased, which Aegean® color you sell the most of and how many 18 inch Serenity® casket vaults you use versus the 24 inch Serenity casket vaults.

Trigard can provide you with your purchasing history which will help you make the best decisions about the products you offer. Call Customer Service at 800.637.1992 to learn more about your buying history.

Pride, gratification and loyalty for 2014

At the beginning of a new year, it is a great time to reflect on where our past has taken us and what
Kelli Nesbitt,
Customer Service Manager
our future holds. I have been with Trigard for 15 years, and it has been a delight watching the company grow. Since my first day, I have believed no one could compete with the products that we carry or our commitment to our customers. And I still believe that today.

One thing that has not changed throughout my time with Trigard is the gratification from a thank you. We take great pride in our work and being able to help you provide a lasting tribute to someone's cherished family member.

In 2014, resolve to cherish those in your life, whether it is family members or customers, and take pride in what you do. It will make a difference.

The long reach of small gestures

Lamontagne Burial Vault, Manchaug, Mass., recently asked us to design a custom Appliqué® for a funeral director that died. Dave Lamontagne chose one of our custom backdrops that he thought the family would like. We'll let him tell the rest of the story in his own words.

"Little did I know that the deceased funeral director collected lighthouses and visited as many as he could during the last year of his life. He even got a tattoo of a lighthouse on his arm as part of his 'bucket list.' Many of the family and other funeral directors were amazed and in tears over the image. I can't stress enough how pleased we are with the attention and service we receive from all the people at Trigard. You treat us like we treat our funerals, as part of your family."

Thank you, Dave, for helping the family celebrate their loved one's life in such a special way.

We know you understand the importance of small gestures and how much impact they can have on a family. Let our team help you honor a life well-lived. Call Customer Service at 800.637.1992 for pricing and details about ordering Appliqués and other custom tributes.
