Next generation brings fresh perspective

Linda Darby, CEO

After coming back from the ICCFA Convention in Tampa, I have had some time to reflect a bit on the experience. Over the last few years more of the next generation of our family have joined the business. It is always enlightening to have them come to a national convention with us. It brings back so many fond memories of working shows with my father, Big Jim. If you have ever met him, you know that his is a great mentor and motivator to our family and our employees. (If you've never seen him speak, you can watch him at the 2011 Trigard Convention.)

This year Ethan Darby (Rich's son and my nephew) had the opportunity to join us at ICCFA. You could feel his excitement surrounded by such a wide variety of vendors, listening to the speakers, and being a part of the chemistry that makes Trigard work! He has lots of great ideas. And with these ideas comes lots of questions. I love that, because it causes us to think differently.

My family is excited to bring our next generation into the business and certainly understand the responsibility we have to be excellent mentors for them. Our promise to you, our Trigard family, is to do our very best to be the good leaders you expect us to be. Thank you for all you do to make us Trigard strong.

Annual sales review can deepen customer relationships

Jeff Miller, VP of
Business Development

As a funeral home, do you pause once a year to review your numbers (including vault sales)? As a vault dealer, are you an active part of that review? As clients we all want to know how we are doing; are we growing, are we maintaining, or are we declining? As a supplier you can provide this very important information to your clients.

It is as simple as compiling a listing of units broken down by product mix for the year. I think our vault dealers will discover that funeral homes will be very interested and appreciative when you, their supplier, take the initiative to share their results and performance.

If you are a funeral home owner or manager, you can conduct this kind of annual review as well. When you look at your product mix for the year, consider calling your dealer to discuss what you learned.

After your review, you may find that you need to adjust burial vault presentation techniques, retail price points or showroom displays. We are happy to support you through this process. Call us anytime to talk about your options.

Most popular Trigard products at ICCFA 2013

Wonder what got people's attention at the ICCFA Expo? In our booth, we displayed a full-color, completely custom applique® on a flat top, black marble Aegean® cover. It got a lot of attention, especially paired with a coordinating bronze ground memorial.

We also showcased the Aegean® Ultra Urn Vault. People were amazed that something with a concrete core could still weigh less than 50 pounds.

Of course both Personal Touch® 2.0 and the Healing Tree® attracted many questions.

Are you up to speed on all of the popular products featured at ICCFA? If not, click the links above or call Customer Service at 800.637.1992. Our team will tell you all about these featured products.

Two ways to display the Healing Tree® cover

Did you know that there are two ways to display the Healing Tree® cover at a ceremony? The first is shown in our tent set-up photos and our Healing Tree video (shown below) with the cover extending out toward the family.

But some locations need to use a different method. Terry Vonderheid, Wilkes-Barre Burial Vault, sent us a photo of his graveside setup with the vault cover to the side on a separate, skirted support.

Come see this vault lid lift in our booth at ICCFA in Tampa beginning tomorrow. Or you can contact American Cemetery Supplies to order.

Packed and ready for Tampa!

Have you ever wondered how our team takes an idea for a convention booth and turns it into the experience that you see when you attend? Needless to say, it involves a lot of planning, checklists and teamwork!

One of the most important parts of the process is proofing the panels. If you've ever created a custom wall display with our Marketing team, you understand what this process is all about. With a showroom wall display, our Marketing team will mock up the panel on slat wall - or sometimes even use a photo of your actual showroom - to help you visualize the finished product.

With a convention booth, our team uses Google SketchUp to create a 3-D model of the booth so we can all visualize it. And here's a sneak peek at the Memorials side of our booth at ICCFA.

Want to see the rest? You'll have to come to Tampa! Or keep watching this newsletter for post-convention photos.
