What do you really know about your competition?

Do you spend a lot of time thinking about new ways to grow your business and get ahead of the competition? Maybe it's time to take a closer look at the competition. 


Learning all you can about your competitors is essential. Factual information about their product offerings, level of service, and customer training programs can open your eyes to new ideas. It also gives you a basis for judging your company's strengths and weaknesses.

Once you get to know your competition you can begin asking questions like "what do they do that we don't?" and "do they offer products and services that we don't?" The information you gather can be used to develop your own unique approach and customer presentation.

Don't stop asking why

At a certain age, a child's favorite word is "why." Why do I have to take a bath? Why do I have to eat my vegetables? Why do I only see stars at night? A child's mind is always searching for answers and questioning why the world is the way it is.

As we grow older and become adults, we tend to stop asking those questions. We just accept things as they are.
Have you stopped asking "why" when it comes to your business? Do you have the mindset of "that is the way we have done it for years?"

As business owners and managers, we should be constantly asking questions. Are there improvements to be made in our production processes? Are there items or services that we purchases that aren't needed anymore? Are we missing opportunities to grow our business?

Take a minute to step back and look at your business. Are you missing opportunities for growth or savings by not taking a minute to ask why?
